Happy Fat Thursday
Why is it Fat Thursday and not Fat Tuesday we are not quite sure. From what we understand maybe Lent starts tomorrow ... I will try harder to verify later.
Update: Ilona said that Lent still doesn't start until Wednesday here but they have Fat Thursday.
All I know is that there were doughnuts everywhere today (at school and the hair salan)!!! Yep that's right we also got our first Polish hair cuts today too. I will post before and after pictures soon.

The Sky is Falling ... or I thought it was
Honestly last week was beautiful. We had warm temperatures and almost all of the snow melted. It was great and made us really excited for spring. But along with these warm temperatures something strange and awful started happening.
All of the snow that had been collecting on the roofs all winter and turned to ice started to fall off. In huge chunks. It was dangerous and I am not exaggerating. Sidewalks were littered with ice chucks and caution tape was everywhere. I had never seen anything like it and we felt as though we should be wearing construction helmets as we walked to and from school! We don't quite understand why this happens here and not at home, but everyone says it happens every year. Crazy!
