Day Two Part One

On day two we were determined to see lots of sites.  We thought we would start by going to the Prague Castle.  Another huge old building that can be seen from most places in the city.  Shouldn’t be hard to find right?  Wrong!  We found the wall but struggled to find the entrance.  Lucky for us there was a nice man taking out some garbage and he pointed us in the correct direction!

When we got to the Castle the view looking down on the city was amazing so we took lots of cool pictures.

Then we headed for the tour.  We got our tickets walked around the courtyard for a bit took some pictures and then headed into the St. Vitus Cathedral.  This structure began being built in 1344 by Emperor Charles IV but wasn’t completed until 1929.  There were lots of huge pretty stained glass windows.

Then we went Basilica of St George founded by Prince Vratislav I at the beginning of the 10th century.  After a fire in 1142 it was rebuilt.

Last we went into the Old Royal Palace.  We got to walk through several rooms and including the throne room where we got to see the crown jewels.

Before we left the castle grounds we stayed to see the changing of the guard.  This happens on the hour every hour.

Then we went and saw the Schwarzenbersky Palace.  Well mostly we pretended to knock on the door.

Then we stopped to warm up and grab some lunch!  This time it wasn’t so Czech but it was still pretty good.

We went to the Wallenstein Palace after lunch and walked around a bit.  A sign told us that it was only open the first weekend of each month during the fall, winter and spring.  Well we thought we would come back the next day, which happened to be Saturday, and the first weekend of the month.  Well the next day we returned and it still wasn’t opened so we were a bit confused tried to ask but then just left. We hear that they gardens are very pretty but we will never know for sure!
