The Morning of Day One

One the morning of the first day we went on a walking tour and saw a glimpse of the major Paris attractions.  Again we took a tour through Sandeman's Tours, just like in Munich, if you are ever in Europe check them out we have been very happy with our tours with them.   Our tour guides name was Daniel and he was great!  We liked him so much that later in the evening we took another tour with him of the Montmartre District.

We got to see the Eiffel Tour from a distance.  Later in our trip we got a lot closer.

Then we got to see Norte Dame.  We went inside on our last day.  This year it is 850 years old.

We walked down the Seine river a ways and came upon the Pont Neuf (New Bridge).  Regardless of its name it is the oldest standing bridge across the Seine River in Paris.  The bridge was built by King Henry III starting in 1578 and was finished in 1607 during the reign of King Henry the IV.  The bridge was built as the first stone bridge and people were weary of it at first.  Because of this no one used it, so the King decided to invite lots of the wealthy Persians to drink the royal wine cellars dry to celebrate the bridge and then had their faces carved into stone and put on the bridge.  Daniel said, “He essentially created the first Facebook!”

The next bridge had so many locks attached to it.  We thought that the locks were cool in Prague but that was nothing compared to this.  The sun was out and it made the locks glimmer!

Then we went to the grounds of the Louvre.  On our last day we went inside and saw the Mona Lisa.

We walked through the Tuileries Garden of the Renaissance Style.  Through the garden and the farris wheel we could see the Arc de Triomphe!

We took a break at a cute French Café and had an omelet and some french onion soup.  That was our first morning in Paris.
